MaiTrra is a word that comes from the combination of Mai+Trra. Mai stands for Mother and also My as in myself. Trra has been taken from trading. So, it has a meaning of My or me as mother(women) venturing out as a businesswoman away from our traditional roles.

Established as a proprietorship firm in the year 2024, we, at MaiTrra Ventures, feel that sustainable, holistic development can only come by encouraging women to participate in newer roles in economy and society. It is a women venture for building a greater, fairer society & for sharing the wealth hidden in the interiors of India. More than 200 women are part of this venture now. Dr (Ms.) Nikita Sinha is the sole proprietor of the firm. The main goals of the venture are:-

1. To help women from deep interiors of India emerge as business persons.

2. ⁠To sell high quality natural non-timber agricultural or forest produce and hand crafted art work products.

3. ⁠To venture in the national and international markets.

The sister concern of MaiTrra Ventures, Nimitta (pronounced as Nimit) has been working in Jharkhand (India) for last 15 years. Initially working for healthcare, Nimitta came to know about the issues concerning couples in live-in relationships in districts around State Capital of Jharkhand, viz. Ranchi. These women are known as ‘Dhuku’, one who has forced her way into the family without marriage. Life is a struggle for these women. Now, with support from amazing numbers of partners, we, in Nimitta, have been able to get more than 2000 women married in last 8 years.

Empowering ‘Dhuku’ women is not the sole area of work for Nimitta. It has also been working in many other areas viz. various health initiatives, mitigating and managing Covid, skilling, education, social welfare activities in Jharkhand, India.

We commit that a part of the profit of this venture will go towards helping the women in distress, esp. ‘Dhuku’ women, to participate in newer roles in economy and society.
